Season 7: Episode 1 - "Privilege"
In continuation of last season's finale, the season premiere of The Practice finds Lindsay behind bars and Eugene making an impassioned plea for her appeal. Meanwhile, Jimmy is approached by a woman who claims to have kidnapped her "daughter" sixteen years ago. The woman asks Jimmy to get word to the girl's birth mother that the girl is ok after all these years, but not to reveal her identity as the kidnapper. And Jaime Stringer, fresh out of law school, meets some resistance in her effort to join the firm as a new associate.

It comes to light that D.A. Kenneth Walsh may have intentionally suppressed specific evidence in Lindsay's first trial ? which ended in a conviction that was set aside by the Supreme Judicial Court. The evidence, which was sent anonymously to the firm, is vital in the preparation of a new defense for Lindsay. Meanwhile, enthusiastic new associate Jamie Stringer may be taking on more than she can handle in her first case, defending a man who is charged with lewd and lascivious behavior.
